Wasps

Social wasps must be one of the most effective predators of aphids, mites and other tiny insects as well as being important pollinators. There is a nest of the Common Wasp (Vespula vularis) in the stone walls just outside our bedroom aqdn I can watch them in action. A month or so ago there was sporadic entrances into the walls - yesterday it was running at one per second. There must be thousands in the nest and lots of pests being eaten and lots of pollination going on.
